This site is dedicated to promoting the creation of a national association that will provide an umbrella of assistance to Head, Neck and Mouth Cancer Support Groups throughout the UK.
Cases of cancer of the head neck and mouth are on the increase for reasons that are not fully understood. Groups of volunteers around the UK do their best to support patients friends and family through diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation from the disease. It is time a national association was formed to assist and represent the interests of those dedicated Supporter Groups and their members.
Support for this dreadful disease is available around some treatment centres but even there groups often struggle to provide a full range of support services. In some parts of the country, support is not available at all. More general cancer support is available through other organisations but we aim to establish a network of supporters throughout the UK and a national freephone telephone support line.
The freephone national support help line would be manned by trained head and neck cancer survivors. Even if no local group exists, those seeking support will at least be able to talk to someone who knows what they are experiencing. There questions can be answered and if a Support Group is within travelling distance, they can be put in touch. We will seek out and offer assistance to existing support groups and encourage the creation of new ones where none exists. We will help provide appropriate training for those involved in supporting with the aim of creating a national network of trained supporters.
